SOAPP–REPO WorkStation Version 2.3 Released

Plant Design and Costing Software for Combined Cycle Repowering Projects

Palo Alto, December 20, 2002: EPRI announced the release of SOAPP-REPO WorkStation Service Release 3. The SOAPP-REPO WorkStation integrates process design, costing, and financial analysis of combined cycle repowering of existing fossil steam plants. This interactive software product supports the analysis of repowering existing coal, oil or gas-fired boilers with combustion turbines and heat recovery steam generators. From user information the SOAPP-REPO WorkStation configures the repowered plant, sizes and costs the new equipment, and performs detailed performance and financial analyses of the resulting conceptual design. New Features in Version 2.3 include:

• Performance and emission models derived from manufacturer-supplied data and equipment cost data from industry sources have been added for the GE PG6111(FA) 50 and 60 Hz, GE PG6591(C) 50 and 60 Hz, and Rolls Royce Trent WLE 50 and 60 Hz, increasing the total number of specific combustion turbines modeled by SOAPP-REPO to 100.
• Capital cost data for the major equipment including combustion turbines, heat recovery steam generators, and steam turbines have been reviewed and updated as necessary to reflect current 2002 market prices.
• Construction schedule activities have been modified to reflect current activity durations. Users will note that construction schedules generated with the latest version are significantly more aggressive than those from previous versions of the software.
