A two-day SOAPP-CT Regional Training Course is scheduled for Thursday December 5th and Friday, December 6th in Palo Alto, CA. This is another opportunity for newer users to take advantage of our "hands-on" instruction of SOAPP-CT, as well as obtain insights and work through practical examples of combined cycle plant design.

Conferences and Presentations

EPRI's Dale Grace presented Technical Risks and Mitigation Measures in Combustion Turbine Project Development at the ASME TurboExpo conference by the International Gas Turbine Institute in New Orleans on June 6, 2001.
Bill Stenzel, formerly of EPRIsolutions, presented Combined Cycle Plant Optimization at the ASME International Joint Power Generation Conference in New Orleans on June 7, 2001. The paper was co-authored by Greg Boncimino, also of Powerhouse Engineering, Ltd., and Dale Grace of EPRI.

EPRIsolutions' Bill Stenzel presented results from Combined Cycle Case Studies and EPRI's Dale Grace presented results of CT Maintenance Cost and Risk Studies at an EPRI Generation meeting in Charlotte, NC on September 19, 2000.
EPRIsolutions' exhibited at PowerGen International in Orlando on November 14-16, 2000.

EPRIsolutions' Bill Stenzel presented Combined Cycle Heat Recovery Steam Generator Optimization at the International Joint Power Generation Conference on July 24, 2000.
SOAPP exhibited as part of EPRI at PowerGen Europe in Helsinki Finland in June 2000.
SOAPP's Bill Stenzel was honored as an ASME Fellow at International Joint Power Generation Conference and Exposition and International Conference on Power Engineering in San Francisco, California held July 25 - 28, 1999.
SOAPP's Bill Stenzel was a moderator on Existing Asset Acquisition at the PowerGen International networking breakfast on December 1, 1999.

SOAPP exhibited at Electric Power '99 in Baltimore, Maryland from April 20-22,  PowerGen Europe '99 in Frankfurt, Germany from June 1-3, Latin America Power in Miami, Florida from June 29-July 1.

SOAPP's Stan Pace presented "Economics and Financial Viability of Merchant Power Plants" at the Merchant Power Plant Conference sponsored by EXNET.

SOAPP's Bill Stenzel was an invited panelist on "Workhorses of the Competitive Era: The Critical Role of the Nation's Largest Coal, Nuclear, and Hydro Power Stations" and Dale Sopocy presented "Repowering Coal Fired Plants" at the 60th Annual American Power Conference in Chicago, Illinois.  Dale Sopocy also chaired the Session "Advanced and Renewable Energy".

SOAPP's Bill Stenzel presented testimony on behalf of the Energy Committee of the ASME Council on Engineering to the Subcommittee on Interior, Committee on Appropriations, U.S. House of Representatives on March 4, 1998.  Bill's testimony was titled "Position Statement on Fossil Energy and Energy Conservation R&D re the Fiscal Year 1999 Budget Request for the Department of Energy".

SOAPP's Stan Pace presented "Analyzing the Economics and Commercial Viability of Developing a Merchant Power Plant" at the Infocast conference Merchant Power Opportunities and Challenges in Boston, Massachusetts in February 1998.

SOAPP's Bill Stenzel presented "Combined Cycle Cogeneration Plant Optimization for Environmental and Financial Benefits" at ASME's Petroleum Division's 21st Annual Energy Sources Technology Conference and Exhibition in Houston Texas in February 1998.
